Before you arrive
You will fill out a few new patient forms, which you can complete online ahead of time so your appointment moves faster. Bring any dental records or recent X-rays if you have them, along with your insurance information so we can check your benefits while you are here.
The exam
Dr. Shi will start by listening. What brought you in, what bothers you about your smile or bite, and what you are hoping to change. This part matters more than people expect, because the right plan depends on your goals, not just what the X-rays show.
From there he examines your teeth, jaw, and bite. We use digital scanning rather than the old gooey impression trays, which means a comfortable, fast 3D image of your teeth instead of a mouthful of putty. If diagnostic images are needed, we take them on-site.
The conversation
Once Dr. Shi has the full picture, he will explain what he sees in plain language. If you need treatment, he will tell you what kind, roughly how long it should take, and why he is recommending that approach over the alternatives. If you do not need treatment, or if the timing is not right yet, he will tell you that too. We would rather have you trust us than start something you do not need.
This is the point where you can ask anything. How much it costs, whether your case is better suited to braces or Invisalign, what daily life looks like during treatment, and how visits will fit your schedule. No question is too small.

Before you leave, our team walks you through the cost, your insurance coverage, and financing options.
